The only goal of the game came on thirty seven minutes, the Hammers faced an early set back when Jemel Henry picked up an injury.

This was a game the youngsters needed to win 2-0 to stand any chance of winning the tournament whichthey had won two years previously, but it was not to be.

The match was played over three thirty minute periods and rolling subs were used, every player in the squad came on at some point. All three goals were in the first period and came from Tony Stokes after nine minutes, Hogan Ephraim on sixteen minutes and Ishmael welsh on twenty five minutes.

West Ham were a goal behind after only four minutes and the Japanesse side extended their lead to two on eighteen minutes.

The Hammers fought back with Tony Stokes pullng one back on twenty one mintues and the same player equalised on sixty five minutes but the Osaka side grabbed the decisive third and winning tgoal after seventy three minuts.

West Ham had efforts cleared off the line and hit the woodwork in the closing stages and will feel that they had done enough to clinch a draw.

There was a late change of opposition after Kanagawa pulled out of the competition. The Hammers were a goal down after eleven minutes but seven minutes later they levelled through Hogan Ephraim.

Tony Stokes put the Hammers ahead ten minutes before the interval and then in the second half Jack Jeffrey clinched the game with a goal on his sixteenth birthday on seventy three minutes withvirtually his first touch of the ball after coming on as a sub.
