BARNES TRAINS AT CHADWELL HEATH

Former England winger Peter Barnes, 27, joined us to spend a week training with the lads at Chadwell Heath.

Leeds United paid a club record fee of £930,000 for Peter four years ago but he appears not to have fitted in too well and has spent the past couple of seasons in a football wilderness.

Capped 22 times for England he was singled out as England's outstanding player  by  Brazil  manager Tele Santana when the two teams met at Wembley in 1981. A fleet footed winger with tremendous balance and a lethal shot he can be a match winner on his day. Manager John Lyall has been only too pleased to help the former England star sort his career out and hopes that his period with us will have proved helpful to him.

Barnes started his career with Manchester City and then had spells with West Bromwich Albion and the Spanish club Real Betis on loan.
