Kings Lynn have been noted for several seasons as a go-ahead side who recruit to their ranks many ex-League players, and they can always be relied upon to be in the running for the Eastern Counties League championship. This season is no exception, and although they have one local player in their side E, Allen the remainder of their team all have Football League experience.

There was a 6,000 attendance which would probably have been greater but for the harvesting, and they saw an early goal when a quick throw-in resulted in the conversion of a cross-pass despite our appeals for offside. However, we more than held our own until half-time, and this was the only score. Torrential rain during the interval meant that the hall played some queer tricks on the newly-cut grass in the second-half, and although the deluge slackened a little there was a continuous drizzle for the remaining time. The homesters went further ahead by converting a penalty for hands, and then Ryder's shot from outside the penalty box made it 3-0 as the greasy ball spun away from Peter Chiswick's grasp. There could, however, be no complaints about the fourth and final goal, for after Reynolds had made a fine run down the wing his cross pass was headed in by Whitelum.

Despite the 4-0 score against them our third-string acquitted itself well, and merited the applause given by the sporting home fans.
